Although £38,000 of S.l06 money has been found to move the Ada Lewis fountain into the middle of Bridge Gardens, no S.l06 money has been found to move Thames Path walkers out of the roadway and along the riverside route supported by the Countryside Commission in January l990.....over 30 years ago! The relocation of the Thames Path is still described as a "Priority" by the Council. The 8m wide former boatyard slipway continues to remain unused except when it is warm enough to deal with Time Share customers out in the open. In January 2011 the Riverside Ward Councillors rejected the proposed double road crossing for the second time since October 2009. The alternative road options have been under consideration since 2007, despite the fact that the Quality Standards for the Thames Path require "no section on busy or dangerous roads" and "a minimum use of metalled roads" (i.e. only where there is no alternative) Maidenhead FP.53 has been obstructed by parked cars since it was created as a planning gain for the benefit of the public in l991. But the Council is willing to take enforcement action to remove the Advertisement Board as these are not allowed to be displayed in a Conservation Area. Margaret B |
